eBay wanted to increase awareness as the UK’s trusted marketplace for collectible card game enthusiasts; and Comic Con was the perfect opportunity. Therefore, eBay wanted to give their audience a unique experience in which they could walk away with personalised collectible cards; which our technology and expertise would achieve at the highest level.

The Solution

We provided our Personalize technology, allowing Comic fans to create their own trading card using a selfie. Our fully-branded onsite photobooths walked visitors through the experience, starting with photo capture, selecting their bespoke card design with AI generated backgrounds, and then our team would print their unique card in real time. The experience was complete in minutes, but the memories would last a lifetime. The unique trading card created in front of their eyes makes a memorable experience and a physical keepsake that would remind them of their interaction with eBay. Visitors who took part would also be sent a digital version of their card, which they could post on social media along with #ebaycomiccon22, spreading awareness to all their followers.

The uniqueness of each collectible was captured in a printed serial number, reflecting how early on in the event theirs had been produced. Across the three-day event, 2,000 cards were produced, leading to 6.1 million impressions and 216,000 shares on social media.
