The Brief

For the release of a Sky Original, The Amazing Maurice, a fan experience was used at Comic Con to build the anticipation of the film. This animated family film is based on the wildly popular Discworld ® novels. It has a star-studded line up, including Hugh Laurie, Emilia Clarke, David Thewlis, Himesh Patel, Gemma Arterton, Hugh Bonneville, David Tennant, and more. Our client asked us to create an interactive experience for the film’s release, allowing guests to have a photo and video with the show’s star, Maurice!

The Solution

Our Human Holograms gave visitors an interactive moment with the main character, which was captured in an incredible output. We used animation from the film and incorporated the movements into the UI experience. It created awe and laughter as Maurice sat in the booth with his back to the audience, and then when the photo was taken, he turned around in surprise and captured him candidly with his fans. We also created an alternative setting that had the rats from the film running back and forth across the bottom of the screen. After dancing, posing, or having a laugh with the booth, it captures the output as a video and photo! So fans could share with their friends and families through social media, whether its across WhatsApp, an Instagram reel, or as part of a TikTok! There are many possibilities of how people can share the brand online, and maximise the film’s awareness.
