2022 saw significant growth across the 20-something cosmetics market. Driven primarily by viral TikTok trends such as #cleangirlaesthetic, the online retailer ASOS saw demand in some categories increase by as much as 600%.
This growth in demand led to ASOS significantly expanding its ‘Face + Body’ range, adding 210 new brands in the months leading up to May 2023.

Working with the event agency Creation, our tech team created the centrepiece of ASOS’s activation, a custom vending machine.
To promote the expansion of Face + Body and the new brands on offer, ASOS took to the road with ‘experiential pop-ups’ appearing in Liverpool, Manchester and Shoreditch, and that’s where Noonah came in.
Working with the event agency Creation, our tech team created the centrepiece of ASOS’s activation, a custom vending machine designed to attract ASOS’s target demographic, capture user-data and dispense a range of products from brands such as Harry’s, Olaplex, The Ordinary and Sunday Riley.
Designed, built and programmed by our internal team of techs and developers the striking unit featured a 54-inch touchscreen which displayed a slick and fun ASOS-themed UX.

Faultlessly serving hundreds of ASOS converts over the three days, the machine captured names and emails before asking each user a range of playful questions designed to steer them to the free sample best suited to their needs.
