The Brief
Unite Students’ wider Unillama campaign – developed in collaboration with Rockstar Energy — was built around a fictional, festival-obsessed llama with a mischievous streak. Our role was to create an experience that extended that story into the real world and delivered a festival moment attendees wouldn’t forget.
Unite Students needed a bold, attention-grabbing activation to:
- Engage student audiences at Parklife Festival
- Tie into their playful, Unillama campaign
- Generate social-ready content to amplify brand visibility
The experience had to be light-hearted, high energy, and instantly shareable.
Our Approach
To bring the campaign to life, we created a fully branded “Spit Booth” – an interactive photo booth that surprised guests with a splash of fun (literally). The booth was designed to be immersive and on-brand, combining physical humour with instant digital content.
The photo booth outputs consisted of a three image GIF sequence showing:
- A clean, posed photo of the guest group
- The exact moment the “llama spit” (a burst of water) hit
- Their immediate reaction
This sequence was automatically captured and stitched into a looping GIF, making the most of the unexpected moment to create something fun, unique, and undeniably shareable.
The Llama Spit Photo Booth
The booth was themed around Unite Students’ llama mascot and featured a splash mechanism that was precisely timed to activate during the second photo. This added a sense of theatricality and made every GIF a little different – depending on each guest’s reaction.
To ensure easy sharing, we installed our Share Station+, which allowed festival-goers to instantly view and distribute their GIFs via email, text, or direct upload to social media.
Branded overlays ensured that Unite Students remained visible no matter how or where the content was shared.

The Result
The Spit Booth was a standout success at the festival – delivering hundreds of fun festival moments and putting Unite Students at the centre of the conversation. The high visibility of the booth and the trail of GIFs left across social feeds contributed to an activation that was fun, bold, and highly engaging.
The presence of Unite Students’ brand ambassadors added another layer of energy, helping manage crowds and guide guests through the experience with humour and enthusiasm.
This project proved just how powerful an interactive booth can be at large-scale events – especially when it taps into humour, surprise, and instant gratification.
